Interested in becoming a beekeeper?

Ashford beekeepers pride ourself on our dedication to sharing our knowledge of the craft and our investment in training future beekeepers.

We offer beginner courses that will take you from a complete novice to understanding your hive and setting up your own Apiary.

The beginner course is four days covering both urban and rural environments.

Booking the Training
If you are interested please contact us to book a place.  You will be given details of locations for each session.

What do you need?

If you sign up for the beginners course you will be required to bring the following bee protection equipment.

  • Bee Suit: we recommend getting  a cheap bee suit online rather than an expensive suit to start with.  You will be able to have a chance to see all of the different types and styles later in the year and make a decision then based on what you find suits you best.

  •  Wellingtons or high boots.

  • Thin nitrile or washing up gloves.
The Club discourages the use of leather gloves as they prevent you from being able to feel what you are touching and this presents difficulties when handling bees.

Young Beekeepers

We have also successfully helped some of our junior members to complete the Duke of Edinburgh Awards. Please get in touch for more information.
